Elijah, 5-years-old, his little sister, and mom were temporarily residing in the U.K. with Elijah’s father who was waiting for his visa paperwork to go through so the family could return home to San Diego where the parents met, married and had their 2 children. They were only in the UK because the dad’s paperwork had to be filed from outside the US so they wanted to keep their family physically together. Elijah also needed both parents to help him as he has low functioning non verbal autism. He has various medical, neurological, and behavioral issues which require managing him, all his appointments, therapies, personal care, behavioral struggles while raising the younger daughter.
One day, out of the blue, their world collapsed. The dad turned Elijah, his mom and sister out of the family home they had shared in the U.K. for a year -no warning, no fighting, no inkling of any kind that there was turmoil, problems or anything. He very calmly looked over at Elijah’s mom after his birthday celebration and said “I don’t love you anymore. I want you and the children to leave.” Where they went and how was not something he arranged, he wanted them gone, he didn’t care how and provided no money.
In tears Elijah’s mom called her parents in the U.S. in tears begging for help. They bought the family the plane tickets even though they could not afford them. Elijah’s family stayed in one bedroom at his grandparents’ home until they could figure out what to do.
They just moved into their own small apartment and Passion 4 K.I.D.S.’ supporters have generously donated furniture, clothing and other items this family desperately needs. This mom and her two little children are starting completely over and will require assistance for the foreseeable future, particularly with Elijah’s severe medical needs.
